Fifty years ago when Rosa Parks made a simple decision to keep her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus, she had no idea that she had secured her place in American History.  At the time, the then 42-year old seamstress stood strong to her sense of right and wrong, and refused to give her seat up on a bus when asked by a white man.  This simple act of courage and conviction sparked a movement of justice and equality for blacks in this country.  She gave birth to the civil rights movement, galvanizing activists such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and many others.

Rosa Parks dies yesterday of natural causes.  She was an inspiration to all.

Fabulous 40's and Fantastic 50's Network

To celebrate my terrific friends, both new and old, I have created a section of the site to honor all the women who are fabulous at 40 and absolutely fantastic at 50. I am proud to feature Wendy Brandt-Martinenas as the second fantastic and fabulous woman in the network.  Wendy Brandt – Martinenas is a successful Connecticut real estate agent specializing in residential properties in Fairfield County.  She is a mother of two great girls (whom I adore), a wife, sister and a loving friend. She is an active participant in her church, her kid’s school, and organizations in her community.

Her ability to thrive under difficult circumstances is what I find most impressive about Wendy. She is strong and focused.  When the going gets tough -- Wendy gets going!  Please join me in celebrating Wendy for her strength and success.

To celebrate my terrific friends, both new and old, I am creating a section of the site to honor all the women who are fabulous at 40 and absolutely fantastic at 50.  The first to be honored is my new friend Julia Griggs Havey, the Ediet's Master Motivator, author, mother, wife and much more.  I honor Julia for her dedication and commitment to enrich women's lives and to healthfully fight obesity in this nation. 

This section is devoted to those who proceed with grace and style -- while living life as if juggling really HUGE colorful exercise balls with one hand, while the other is tied behind their back.  My hat is off to Julia and the rest of you.  It is time to celebrate your strength and character.
